Enigma crafting in Diablo 4 Season 15 requires one Common white Chest Armor, one Jah, one Ith, and one Ber in the Horadric Cube; putting the runes into equipment sockets does not complete this recipe. When gathering Diablo 4 runes, reserve the exact names and quantities before choosing your chest base. Magic, Rare, and Legendary chest pieces do not satisfy the Common base requirement.
Use the Cube station, not equipment sockets
The Horadric Cube becomes available through the Lord of Hatred campaign and, once unlocked, is located in Temis. It is a crafting station where you combine ingredients and transmute them into a result. Searching your inventory for a portable Cube will not get you to the crafting interface.
The Cube also contains secret recipes, so its visible recipe collection is not the full extent of its crafting options. For Enigma, prepare the complete ingredient set before deciding that a missing recipe entry means the item cannot be made. The relevant checks are the equipment category, its quality, and the three rune names.
Choose the chest before spending Jah and Ber
A Common Ancestral chest produces the Ancestral version of Enigma. Ancestral status does not replace the Common quality requirement: you need a base that satisfies both conditions. Inspect those properties together instead of assuming that any Ancestral chest is eligible.
The base also determines the finished item's Item Power. Spending the required runes does not automatically raise a weaker chest to the power of a stronger base. Compare suitable chest pieces before committing your ingredients, especially when this is your first complete Jah, Ith, and Ber set.
Keep one Ber out of the Jah conversion
Ber requires two Lo runes and one Grand Topaz. Jah requires two Ber runes and one Grand Sapphire. These are separate conversions, and each consumes its ingredients; making Jah from your only two Ber leaves you without the Ber needed for Enigma itself.
Required rune
Cube ingredients
Ber
2 Lo and 1 Grand Topaz
Jah
2 Ber and 1 Grand Sapphire
Ith
3 Eth
Following these conversions, a Jah made entirely from Ber requires three Ber in your overall Enigma preparation: two become Jah, while the third stays reserved for the chest recipe. Gem quality matters too. Match Grand Topaz to Ber and Grand Sapphire to Jah instead of treating the gems as interchangeable crafting materials.
Read Ith carefully before the final transmutation
Enigma uses Ith, not Eth or Ist. Three Eth produce one Ith, while three Tir produce one Eth. Starting with Tir therefore takes nine Tir across two conversion stages to make the single Ith required; neither of these lower rune conversions needs a gem. Finish those conversions before assembling the chest recipe.
Next, check your stash against the complete recipe and choose the eligible chest you intend to keep. Before you buy D4 items, write down the exact missing ingredient and base requirements so you can compare item details against that checklist. Once everything is ready, place the chest, Jah, Ith, and Ber together in the Cube and select Transmute.
